Welcome! We are Folk Network, based in Sheffield, and we created this website with an aim to promote folk music and dance in Sheffield and across the UK. We think folk arts are an important part of our cultural heritage and we want to contribute to their cultivation and preservation.
Folk music has come a long way since its origins in ancient melodies, especially after its revival in XX century. In recent years, it saw an incredible proliferation of genres such as anti-folk, indie folk, freak folk, folk punk, neo-medieval and many more!
There are lot of great folk musicians and dancers out there, both contemporary and traditional, and we are passionate about supporting them by spreading the word about folk concerts, dances, news and other events dedicated to folk arts.
